Nature and volunteers work together
Today is International Volunteer Day (IVD) which is an international observance day designated by the United Nations since 1985. The declared aim of IVD is to thank volunteers for their efforts and increase public awareness on their contribution to society.
At Nature.is we have been lucky enough to have worked with volunteers from SEEDS on and off for the past three years. Guðrún has both received groups at Alviðra of Landvernd, the Icelandic Environent Association where they worked tremendously important and good work and she has also received a group to work for Nature.is for packaging and distributing the Nature Cards and the Green Map of Reykjavík on Green April.
Guðrún holds lectures regularly for SEEDS volunteers where she introduces the website and environmental issues in Iceland. Most of the time the lectures take place at the Hostel in Laugardalur and at the Nordic House. She has also volunteered with SEEDS as an artist for conceptual work at SEEDS Photo Marathon. All encounter with SEEDS volunteers has been very fruitful for both parties.
A group of SEEDS volunteers came to Nature's office for a whole day of lectures and brainstorming last month. The group consisted of Matteo Esposito, Bora Kim, Eunsong Jung, Timur Guslov, Ajda Dernikovic, Emilia Erikkila, Elena Vincentini, José Sevilla og Sophie Boone.
In the afternoon the group brainstormed on ideas for Nature's next project focusing on sustainable tourism resulting in many very interesting ideas.
Us at Nature.is want to thank those wonderful and clever young people for their contribution and we look forward to working with SEEDS volunteers again.
