Farmers local markets in Iceland this summer

In Iceland farmers and other small scale producers have no tradition of farmers markets or local open air markets to sell their crops or produce. Unlike most nations that have a long history of local markets. For some reason or due to the unpredictable weather we just have'nt thought it to be a good idea (or just didn't think of it). Just in the recent years some farmers and organisations have started to sell their products in this homy manner with great success. Below we have listed the markets that you can count on finding unless of course the weathergods won't be in the mood.

In Mosskógar, Dalssel in Mosfellsbær, a market has taken place for quite some years now. The market runs on Sundays from the middle of July on till the beginning of September. Opening hours: 12:00-17:00.

Marína in Akureyri, open on Sundays. Opening hours: 11:00-17:00.

Countrymarket Breiðablik, at Snæfellsnes will be open on Saturday the 9th of August. Opening hours: 12:00-18:00.

Countrymarket by Laxá in Leirársveit - on the roadside by the highway nr. 1 - a country market will be helt on Sundays this summer. Opening hours: 13:00-18:00.

Kolaportið in Reykjavík is amongst others a place for farmers and local producers to sell their products. Open on Saturdays and Sundays. Opening hours:11:00-17:00.

Kátt í Kjósinni (Fun in the Kjós) a country festival where amongst others a local market will be helt on Saturday the 19th of July.

In Gallerí Gónhóll in the old fishfactory in Eyrarbakki you'll find a reuse market, antique car show and lots of interesting local products and a Flee market. Open on Saturdays and Sundays this summer. Opening hours: 11:00 - 17:00.
