Special Tours recieved the Blue Flag Pennant a few days ago showing our respect for the ocean and our sustainable tourism policy. Let´s protect the ocean! The Blue Flag works towards sustainable development at beaches/marinas through strict criteria dealing with water quality, environmental education and information, environmental management and safety and other services.

Whale watching boats and small boats can get the Blue Flag Pennant by fullfilling certain environmental criteria. Blue Flag Pennants are not the same as the Blue Flag but are a sign of the companies good intentions in eco-friendly management at sea.

This means we use recyclable products and take care to sort waste materials and deliver them to the appropriate place. We urge our customers to help us protect nature and keep the seas and the harbour clean. Also we use environmentally friendly products whenever possible.

The Icelandic Environment Association (Landvernd) manages the program in Iceland as part of the International Blue Flag Program that is owned and run by the independent non-profit organization, Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE).
