“Beijing took 300,000 high-emission cars off its roads on Tuesday, as part of measures to clean up the capital's air pollution and ease traffic on perennially clogged highways ahead of the Olympics.

Pollution is a major concern for many athletes ahead of the Aug. 8 Games and the International Olympic Committee has said it may reschedule endurance events to remove a potential health risk.

The Chinese capital is one of the most polluted cities in the world and rapidly becoming one of the most congested, with about 1,000 extra cars crowding on to already choked roads every day.“ Source: planetark.org
